DS34RT5110 Family HDMI cable Exenders

Customers what quality they should expect when using a single-link DVI cable to connect to an HDTV. I decided to try it, for me to get a real world response to the difference. I could tell a difference between an HDMI to DVI cable and a standard HDMI cable. Hooking my laptop to my TV, I was still able to watch movies in 1080p.

Cable reach does depend on the data rate (and therefore video resolution), cable quality, and the electronics for sending/receiving the signal. The chips in the video basically boost the distance and/or amount of data you can send over a given cable.

when you are comparing a 1080p and 780p. is an hdmi cable give the same quality, or does the (P) matter in how well the hdmi work?

@Barry3443 that is not 100% true HDMI has audio up to 8 channels, smaller connector, support for YUV color space,

Of course the quality will be the same – HDMI is just DVI with audio. It’s the same, digital, signal.

Someone please help. I’m running DVI to HDMI for my Mac Mini. Can I run audio from the Mac to my TV also? i.e. Use HDMI for video, but at the same time have a regular audio source used along side it?

Yes, you’ll just need to connect your HD audio card to your speakers/5.1/7.1+

DVI doesn’t have the capabilities of sending audio signals. You’ll have to get a separate cable for that.

There’s minuscule differences between a HDMI signal and a DVI signal. They’re both digital signals, the difference is that the HDMI is a nice little package that comes with digital audio.

the quality won’t look any different because it all depends on the source’s resolution…you will only see the difference when you use a blu-ray movie, dvd movies you won’t see anything!

Hey mate, first of all : nice video, but I have got one major question…

Ive got a Thinkpad T61p, which has HD card, but lacks HDMI. Ive got only DVI on my dock. Is it possible to play HD stuff on HD TV with HD Sound? Please excuse my noobish questions, but im kinda newbie to these things :)
