BTX Technologies Launch the First Field-Terminatable HDMI Cable-Mount Connector

BTX Technologies have launched an industry first field-terminatable HDMI cable-mount male connector system. This clever and innovative system enables cable installers to easily and quickly build custom length HDMI assemblies, up to 39 feet in length and up to at resolutions of 1080p with 12 bit deep colors.

The advantages with using this product include the ability to feed the cable through conduits and trunking compartments and functionality to remove excess cable that otherwise is coiled up behind the HDMI enabled device, making improvements in neatness by helping to optimize the cable length.

The HDMI 1.4 compliant cable connector itself is terminated using an simple IDC or insulation displacement process and only requires a HDMI hand tool and a knife. BTX technologies claim that this work can be carried out with only basic skills and training.

Director of marketing and strategic sales at BTX Technologies, Mark Chernoff, was quoted as saying “Field-terminatable HDMI connectors have been the most anticipated connector breakthrough for years, and we are very proud to be the first to offer them to installers,” Mark continued “Until now, installers have had to rely on pre-made assemblies in standard lengths, because with 19 conductors to terminate, soldering of HDMI connectors is almost impossible in the field. Thanks to our IDC technology, installers can now create any length they need up to 39 feet, with lengths of 65 feet attained using common booster products currently found in the market.”
